Taking Care of Your Furniture

Taking care of your furniture is essential to ensure it lasts for years to come. Regular maintenance and cleaning can help keep it looking great and functioning properly. From dusting to taking simple precautions, there are many ways to keep your furniture in top condition. Let us help you keep your furniture looking its best.

Note: Following these guidelines will help ensure that your warranty remains in tact. See Warranty Policy for more information.

Precautions

  • Keep furniture away from heating and air conditioning sources to prevent loss of moisture.

  • Heat, cold, moisture and sharp objects can damage wood furniture. We recommend always protecting your furniture by using felt backing, coaster, or placements under these items.

  • Wood naturally expands and contract with seasonal humidity changes, which may result in warping or creaking. Try to maintain consistent humidity levels to limit these effects.

  • Daily exposure to sunlight will change the color of natural wood over time. Occasionally rotate the items on your cabinet to maintain a consistent color throughout its surface.

  • Do not place newspapers or magazines on woods surfaces. The ink from these items may bleed into the finish and could damage the wood.

  • When writing, place something thicker underneath your paper, such as a book or magazine. Wood is soft, so your handwriting can travel through the paper and onto your tabletop.

Mattress Care

  • To help keep your mattress clean, a thin mattress protector can be used as long as it still allows airflow and heat dissipation.

  • Don’t use dry cleaning fluid of any type on your mattress. These chemicals could damage some of the comfort and upholstery materials.

  • Vacuuming is the recommended regular cleaning method. If you must clean a stain, use mild soap with cold water and apply lightly, allowing the mattress time to fully air dry.

  • If you need to, certain mattress covers can be removed and washed in cold water and line-dried.

  • Do not jump on the mattress or cabinet bed, as doing so can break down the inner construction and materials.
